Self-Compassion

“If you don’t love yourself, you cannot love others.  If you have no compassion for yourself, you cannot develop compassion for others.” – Dalai Lama

We are harder on ourselves that we are for people in our lives.  The next time you make a mistake, think about a friend or family member – what would you say to that person if they made that mistake?  “You’re an awful person”? “You’re always making mistakes”? You are more likely to say things like “it’s OK, no one’s perfect.” Or “there’s always tomorrow, to try again”.  Be as kind to yourself as you are to your friends.
